A clear answer for parents

"Where does my child's data go?"

When a parent asks, here's what you can tell them.

Encrypted, so unreadable.
Information is scrambled while it travels over the internet and while it's stored: without authorized access, it stays unreadable. The most sensitive details, such as an identification number, are scrambled a second time and hidden on screen.
Kept in Canada.
Children's, families' and staff records, and their documents, are stored on Microsoft servers located in Canada.
Designed around Law 25.
Law 25 governs the protection of personal information in Quebec. SOS Educ was designed around its requirements, and a designated person is responsible for protecting personal information.

Your security questions answered

Where is my data stored?
The database and files are hosted in Canada (Microsoft Azure, Canada Central). A few services may be processed outside Canada, including in the United States: sign-in (Microsoft Entra ID), subscription payment (Stripe), address suggestions (Google Maps) and browser notifications.
Who can access family information?
You, the colleagues you invite, and the parents you invite. A parent only sees their own children's profiles. The SOS Educ team accesses this information only for maintenance, support or a legal obligation, and that access is limited to a small number of people.
What happens if I delete my account?
Your workplace's children, parents and colleagues, along with its documents, photos and logo, are permanently deleted no earlier than 30 days after the subscription is cancelled. Your sign-in account is disabled as soon as your last subscription is closed. When you close your account, you can download a copy of your data (Excel) right in the app. You can also request deletion or a copy of all your information at any time by contacting our privacy officer at confidentialite@soseduc.ca.
Can I safely share access with my team?
Yes. Each team member has their own credentials and only sees what their role and groups allow. If someone leaves the team, you remove their access in a moment.
